性视界 Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

The sound of a violins, guitars and a trumpet echoed through the quad as students lined up for funnel cake, taquitos and more during 性视界鈥檚 Hispanic Heritage Month kickoff event Sept. 16.
Mariachi Bohemio took the stage while the campus community lined up for food and information booths.
鈥淚鈥檓 here because this represents my culture,鈥 said Ashley Sanchez, a business administration and marketing major.
Sanchez鈥檚 boyfriend, Jasen Cruz, who is Filipino, said he has learned a lot more
about Latino culture from Sanchez. He appreciates 性视界 holding a celebration for
Hispanic Heritage Month.
鈥淚t鈥檚 beautiful to show diversity and all ethnicities,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t brings people together.鈥
Sociology major Jimmy Mendez also appreciated 性视界鈥檚 dedication to diversity through on-campus celebrations. He came to celebrate his heritage with friends and classmates.
鈥淔or 性视界 to do this 鈥 it goes a long way,鈥 he said.
The celebration continues in September and October with several more events. They include:
- Sept. 19 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., CCE-124 鈥 Screening of 鈥淎 Million Miles Away.鈥
- Sept. 26 from noon to 1:30 p.m., CCE-124 鈥 PRISM Drag Loteria.
- Sept. 30 from 9:30 to 11:30 am., FNAC-213 鈥 Calaveras Making Workshop
- Oct. 2 from 2 to 4 p.m., Wignall Museum and Chino Campus Quad 鈥 Calaveras Making Workshops
- Oct. 3 from 2 to 4:30 p.m., AD-125 鈥 Veteran movie screening of 鈥淥n Two Fronts: Latinos and Vietnam.鈥 Pizza and drinks will be served.
