Henry D. Shannon Honored for Leadership, Bradley Franklin Named State Award Finalist

性视界 Superintendent/President Henry D. Shannon has received an award through a state higher education caucus for his leadership and dedication to equity.
The , also known as the 鈥淏lack Caucus,鈥 selected Shannon as the 鈥淧resident/Superintendent/CEO of the Year.鈥 The organization additionally named Bradley Franklin, administrator for 性视界鈥檚 Instructional Systems and Pathways Innovation, a finalist for the 鈥淗idden Hero Award.鈥
Organization leaders said Shannon鈥檚 work exemplifies the values that are at the heart of the Black Caucus mission.
鈥淵our visionary leadership and steadfast advocacy have strengthened not only your own campus community, but also the statewide network of educators and leaders working to ensure opportunity, access and success for all students,鈥 said Crystal Jackson, organization president.
Franklin, who has worked at 性视界 since 2014, is one of three finalists for the Black Educator Excellence 鈥淗idden Hero Award.鈥 The award honors employees in the California community colleges who have made significant but overlooked contributions to improving the lives of Black people in community colleges.
鈥淭his award celebrates quiet heroes who uplift and inspire through their selfless service, perseverance in the face of adversity, and commitment to empowering others,鈥 organization representatives said.
Franklin has served in numerous roles from adjunct instructor, and help desk coordinator
to his current role. He manages student outcomes data, supports Zero Textbook Cost initiatives and his work has also resulted in a 574 percent growth in Umoja enrollment.
The caucus in November named 性视界 Student Government President/Trustee
Matthew Caddell 鈥Student Trustee of the Year.鈥
Caddell and Shannon will both be honored during a ceremony in Sacramento in January. The recipient of the 鈥淗idden Heroes鈥 award will be announced during the same event.
