Thousands of new and returning students started classes Aug. 17 at 性视界, where they were welcomed with new academic offerings, new faculty and upgraded campus facilities.

More than 21,000 students had enrolled for fall, a 14 percent increase in headcount in the last three years.

性视界 launched 20 new credit and non-credit associate鈥檚 degree and certificate programs, including programs in computer technology, hospitality management, personal training and Earth science. The college also introduced an artificial intelligence program, one of the first to be offered by a community college in the region.

鈥溞允咏� continues to expand its academic offerings to meet the growing demands of our students, as well as the needs of the workforce,鈥� said 性视界 Superintendent/President Henry D. Shannon. 鈥淲e are excited to welcome the student body back to our three campuses and online.鈥�

The college also introduced dozens of new credit and non-credit courses, including two in automotive technology covering electric vehicle systems and advanced alternative propulsion. Students can also take a new American Sign Language course called 鈥淔ingerspelling/Numbers鈥� or the fashion design course 鈥淐omputer-Aided Patternmaking.鈥�

The college welcomed 15 new professors, who will teach classes in subjects such as physical therapist assistant, dental assisting, chemistry, photography, business, ethnic studies and broadcasting.

Students taking classes at the Rancho Cucamonga campus will be among the first to see the newly renovated Michael Alexander Campus Center, which has been expanded by 9,000 square feet, and includes dining facilities, lounge spaces and 400 indoor seats.

The project was funded by Measure P, a $700 million bond approved by voters in 2018. The 性视界 Library Learning Commons, another Measure P project, opened in spring, while plans are underway for new campuses in Fontana and Ontario.
